It was the inevitable outcome of Trump world. Putin poisons his opponents - Trump poisons the minds of the people through Twitter and right-wing media. Anyone who beats him must be cheating... they don't need evidence or facts or proof – he just says it over and over again and they believe his lies. Mail-in ballots must be phony somehow... if people didn't show up at the polls in person to wait in long lines while risking infection... if people elected to legally mail in their ballot, then they must be fake... they must be purged somehow. If the media reports “bad” news about Trump, then it must be “fake” news. If they refuse to overturn an election that has been challenged hundreds of times in courts across the country, and counted and recounted over and over again by bi-partisan voting officials... then they must be overthrown. 

So, on Jan. 6^th, 2021, thousands of Trumpian Terrorists broke the windows of the U.S. Capitol and illegally entered the building with the intent to take-over the U.S. government. One person was regrettably shot by security forces as she climbed through a broken window. Three other people lost their lives in the invasion. Many people and police were injured in the fighting. I think it showed amazing restraint that only one person was shot... it could have been a real blood-bath. The Legislators had all been removed to a safe location as the chaos ensued and when the terrorists finally reached the Senate chamber, they were alone as they rifled through desks and left threatening notes and held their American flags side by side with “Keep America Great” flags as they desecrated, vandalized, and terrorized our United States Capitol. Eventually, they were arrested or they left on their own. Trump incited the mob and told them he would be with them as they marched on the Capitol building, but... hmmmmm?... somewhere on the way he must have ducked out. Trump tweeted praise for the violent mob from his hiding place, but Facebook and Twitter removed it (not wanting to be a party to armed insurrection). Guns and pipe-bombs were discovered hidden and/or abandoned in many places in and around the Capitol. A few hours later, the building was secured and the Senate reconvened to confirm the election of Joe Biden as President.

Who are we? What do we believe in, as a people? Are we willing to give in to terrorism and armed insurrection from a dictator-wanna-be who refuses to concede power? Will we continue to allow lies, hatred, and BS to poison the mind of the American people through twisted media outlets and unfiltered, hate-filled rhetoric by big-time con artists. We have elected Joe Biden... not my first choice... but the only sane choice we have. I mourn for the lives lost, I call for justice for the traitors, Trump included, I plead for truth, and I pray for the America that I know and love. Ross Spencer
